THIS MONSOON, CARE FOR YOUR HAIR

As much fun as they are, Monsoons can be a tough time to keep your hair in place with all the moisture and humidity in the air. They tend to get limp, frizzy, dry or just plain dull and are more prone to unwanted hair fall and hair damage. When exposed to the rains during monsoon, the hair absorbs the hydrogen present in the air to form bonds, causing swelling or bloating in the cuticles, making them flare up, thus causing the frizziness.

But don’t let that dampen your spirits! While you treat yourself to the sweet and savory delicacies to enjoy the rains outside, don’t forget to take some extra care of your hair to make sure they are full of life. Oil, cleanse, and condition them regularly to make sure that they remain healthy and strong this season:

Scalp Massage & Oiling

Oiling has a lot of benefits for your hair. Not only does it keep your hair protected, but a good old grandma-style head massage helps one feel relaxed and even gets the creative juices flowing. So, give your hair a good mix of both, the nutrients as well as the stimulation, to keep them healthy.

Make sure to massage your scalp with warm oil and at least twice a week to keep it healthy. Use Coconut, Almond or Olive Oil for dry, dull, or damaged hair, and castor oil for strengthening them.

Shampoo

Apart from the hair, even the scalp can get dry and itchy during monsoons. The best way to avoid this is to keep it clean and dirt-free. It is also advisable to use a mild shampoo according to your hair type. Even though shampooing your hair daily isn’t advised, using a Natural and Ayurvedic shampoo on a regular basis doesn’t harm your hair or strip it off its natural oil and shine.

Condition

Frizzy hair is not only a monsoon-related worry but is definitely more common during this season. Make sure you use a strengthening and smoothening conditioner to detangle the hair. It is recommended to use a conditioner every time one shampoos the hair.

While we are focusing on the above things, we shouldn’t forget to do the small, everyday things to make sure that the hair remains long and strong:

Combing

Between the windy air and rainy moisture, the hair can get tangled and prone to breakage. An effective way to combat that is to use a wide-toothed comb to detangle the hair. We recommend using Neem Comb as it is gentle on the hair and the scalp, helps control hair fall and is an eco-friendly alternative to using plastic combs.

Hydrating

Just like your skin, your hair needs hydration too. Do drink lots of water this season and keep your hair, skin, and body well-hydrated. Start your day with drinking 2 glasses of lukewarm water or mix it with honey and lemon to detoxify your system and to have a good start to the day.

Nutrition

This beautiful weather calls for eating a lot of oily, greasy, and fast food. That coupled with the humid weather can also be a cause of hair fall. Balance it out! Don’t forget to get a nutrient and protein-rich diet full of leafy veggies, fruits, and whole grains to ensure your skin glows and your hair shines.
